Singer-songwriter Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim is a first generation New Mexican currently based in Los Angeles. She has won multiple prestigious awards, including first place in the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Jazz Competition and the BISTRO Outstanding Achievement Award for Jazz Vocalists. Her debut jazz album Smile is available on all streaming platforms. She is featured on Ivan Lins’ Grammy nominated album My Heart Speaks, and has toured with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
With a mama from Germany and a papa from Mozambique, Tawanda is a proud child of immigrants and is looking forward to celebrating her diverse heritage with upcoming original music. She is deeply inspired by, and thanks The Ebell of Los Angeles for their commitment to empowering and sustaining the livelihoods of women, providing education for the community, revering arts & culture and so much more — and is honored with this special opportunity to share the music she loves so much during Women’s History Month.
