Opera meets cello and its magic!
Presented by Maestro James Conlon, this concert offers a unique musical experience that bridges original works for cello ensemble with iconic moments from the Italian operatic tradition. The first half features 43 minutes of compelling repertoire—compositions originally written for cello quartet—by Goltermann, Fitzenhagen, Klengel, and Sollima, all of whom were accomplished cellists themselves. The second half presents beautifully adapted arias and preludes—from Monteverdi to Puccini—highlighting the expressive power of the cello. The performers are four outstanding Italian cellists who form the core of the cello section of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded and conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Free admission.
